It's official, after being nominated in September, legendary Hip-hop group Run DMC has earned the spot at the prestigious Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame according to the New York's Daily News.
The trio hailing from Hollis, Queens are largely credited as the first major rap to crossover the mainstream with hits like "My Adidas", "Run's House", "King of Rock", "It's Tricky" & "Walk This Way (feat. Areosmith)". Consisting of Run (Joesph Simmons), DMC (Darryl MacDaniels) & the late DJ Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell), Run DMC will be the second hip-hop group to make it to the hall of fame. In 2007 Rap pioneers Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five were honoured.
Run DMC will be joined by fellow o9 Rock & Roll inductees Metallica, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Jeff Beck, Bobby Womack, & Wanda Jackson & among others in the ceremony on the 4th of April in Cleveland.
